Design team lead and principal product designer at the UK-based investment platform.
When I joined InvestEngine, my primary goal was to help the design organisation scale as quickly as the product itself. I redesigned the team’s cadence to protect focused work, automated repetitive processes, hired 6 team members and built a culture based on creativity, ownership and accountability.
I believe design leaders should stay close to the product, so I continued working as a hands-on designer alongside the team. I owned some of the most challenging problems: secure two-factor authentication, advanced design-system components, self-service content builders for marketers and other cross-functional initiatives that later became learning material for the rest of the team.
Having spent 5 years in the AI department of the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, I was also able to introduce AI into the design workflow pragmatically rather than experimentally. I established clear guidelines for generative content, hired an AI specialist for marketing, and developed an AI-assisted UX review process where AI accelerated exploration, while final product decisions always remained with senior designers.
During this period, InvestEngine continued its rapid growth as one of the UK’s fastest-growing digital investment platforms. During my nearly two years leading product and communication design, assets under management grew from £650 million to £3 billion. Today the company serves more than 140,000 investors, has earned recognition from both customers and independent reviewers for making long-term investing remarkably simple, and continues to set a high standard for digital investing experiences. Its Trustpilot rating rose from 4.5 to 4.7 over the same period.
I am proud that my work on design leadership, product quality and team culture helped create a strong foundation for that growth.
